entry for Unity Contest Week 6

Here's my entry for the Unity Stamp Co. Bachelor contest Week 6:

The challenge this week was creating a card with Unity stamps that is masculine yet sweet using only pink and brown! It took a lot of thought and planning but some how I came up with this....

This week I've been trying to organize and clean out my craft storage armoire and my desk. Whew! It's exhausting. I need to be more consistent on keeping up with the clutter so this doesn't happen again!

chocolate covered apples

These little beauties are stealing my time lately but it's been fun! I'm making lots of them for thank-you & teacher gifts.
They include layers of caramel, milk chocolate and white chocolate. Some pretty ones even got a dose of pecans.

friends with flair friday

It's friends with flair Friday over at Unity Stamp Co.! Check out all the inspiration and for your chance to win!

Here's my anniversary card for some special people in my life. I just love the Mr & Mrs stamp from the Unity Sept. Kit of the Month. I embossed it with American Crafts White Zing embossing powder on some black cardstock for this card.

There are so many wonderful stamps in the kit and I can't wait to create some more projects with it.

products used: Unity Sept KOTM, BasicGrey Urban Prairie collection, K & Co. Amy Butler brads, Maya Road chipboard house, American Crafts White Zing embossing powder, Ranger white opal liquid pearls & distress antique linen stickles, Fiskars scallop border punch.

current favorite products

These are the products I've found myself having the most fun with lately.
Teresa Collins stamps

These stamps are classic, versatile and have lots of incredible detail. They are rubber cling stamps that you can stick right on your acrylic blocks.

Colorbox Fluid Chalk inkpads

I love the soft effect of stamping with these pads. Joann.com stocks these juicy full size pads in oodles of colors which can be hard to find other places.

Colorbox Cat's eye mini inkpads

The same effect of the large size pads but with a small variety stack of colors. Great for shading and distressing.

Corner chomper by We R Memory Keepers

This corner rounder cuts through anything: acrylic, thick chipboard, metal, many layers of cardstock etc. It is lightweight, feels great in your hand and will do 1/4" and 1/2" edges. Awesome tool that is a MUST have.

American Crafts Zing Embossing Powder

These embossing powders are really wonderful and melt so smooth. The powder picks up the finest details and leaves very crisp images. It comes in opaque, metallic, and glitter finishes in many colors. My favorites are the Black opaque, Clear, White, Copper metallic and Pewter metallic. There are lots of brights to choose from too. The Cricket, Rouge, Gold Glitter and Metallic Blue are on my wish list - great colors for the upcoming holidays!

BasicGrey Element stickers

These stickers create so much beautiful interest on a page or card with ease! I love them.

Unity Stamp Co. stamp sets

I could not believe how HUGE and detailed these rubber stamps were until I opened my first package of them. Great for scrapbooking, cardmaking and all kinds of papercrafts. The Kit of the month sets come in a one 8.5X11 sheet of stamps on cling foam. A real steal with so many versatile images!

I just discovered this new product called shimmerz . They're water-based paints that have rich iridescent color & shine and can be used even on acrylic and metal. I'm excited to try the new Vintage color collection.

unity stamp co. bachelor contest

Unity Stamp Co. is having a contest for the next 7 weeks called the Unity Bachelor Contest. Read more about it here and how you could win hundreds of dollars in prizes!

This was my first submission for the 1st week. The challenge was to use an item with bling or shine, patterned paper, 2 buttons and unity stamps.

Lately, I've really gotten into stamping and embossing so this was a fun project!

I clear embossed the stamped heart from the "be Owl mine" stamp set from Unity and also clear embossed several layers onto the chipboard house and edged the card in chalk ink and copper embossing powder.

The American Crafts Zing embossing powder is my favorite because it holds so much detail and melts just like butter. They have a great line of metallics, opaque colors and glitter powders. You must try it!

silly boy

supplies used: Fancy Pants Kraft Kuts "That boy" paper, Heidi Swapp giant ghost clock, my minds eye diecut title, 7gypsies word stickers, Teresa Collins "remember this" rubber stamp, american crafts zing black embossing powder, ranger inks.

A funny story to share behind this layout: We were at my daughter's school open house & book fair and my 2 year old son watched her picked out a few books. He let me know that he also wanted to get a new book and then while "reading" it said in his most teenager-y tone of voice "Mooooom, I'm trying to read!" when I was attempting to get his attention. I found it humorous but I'm sure I won't find this funny if he tries this attitude when he is older!
I used two of my new favorite products: Fancy Pants Kraft kuts paper and Teresa Collins rubber stamps. I highly recommend them - great quality and very versatile!

We didn't get to take our annual beach vacation this year since we're saving to finish our basement so this layout helped me to reminisce!

The deep blues & oranges of the Marrakech collection from BasicGrey are so amazing.

I love the contrast between color and Kraft cardstock with the Fancy Pants Kraft Kuts line. I have so many boy layout ideas running through my head just by looking at it!

These new collections by BasicGrey are really adorable. They are going straight onto my wishlist. The cute little dogs in the June Bug line and the bright raspberry shades in Lemonade pack are my faves.

sketch entry

It felt good to complete a layout about our "everyday life" and the usual somewhat mundane parts of life that would be interesting to look back on in years to come. AJ likes to mimic Olivia doing her homework after school. He draws on paper and coloring books while she writes and eats an after school snack with her.
This layout was based on the May #2 sketch on the So sketchy blog.

National Scrapbook Day!

What a great day it was! I got so many layouts accomplished and had a ton of fun. I couldn't believe how many scrapbookers were online and the anticipation was contagious even behind the computer.

I did this layout in a record 7 minutes to upload in time for one of the Scrapbook.com challenges. That is really a big deal for me since I tend to be such a slow scrapbooker. A few chipstickers from Basicgrey and a great new Martha Stewart punch and I was finished!

I can't get enough of the new Marrakech line from BasicGrey! The colors are just so vibrant and versatile. This collection pack is worth investing in.
